New Series and Documentaries

“Boundless” promises to offer viewers “once-in-a-lifetime trips from wherever they are” through the immersive capabilities of Vision Pro. Following this, Apple will release the next installment of its Wild Life nature documentary series in August. September will see the debut of “Elevated,” an aerial travel series that will take viewers to iconic vistas from breathtaking heights.

Upcoming Releases

Apple has also teased a wide array of additional Immersive Video content slated for release later this year, including:

- “Submerged”: Premiering this fall, “Submerged” is the first scripted short film captured in Apple Immersive Video. Set during World War II, the film takes viewers aboard a submarine during a deadly torpedo attack. Written and directed by Academy Award winner Edward Berger, “Submerged” highlights the unique storytelling possibilities of Apple Immersive Video.

- 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend: Basketball enthusiasts will get a unique perspective on the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis. The immersive short film will feature highlights such as the Rising Stars, Slam Dunk contest, the inaugural NBA vs. WNBA 3-Point Challenge with Sabrina Ionescu and Stephen Curry, and the All-Star Game itself.

- An Immersive Experience from The Weeknd: Later this year, The Weeknd will return with an exclusive immersive experience for Apple Vision Pro users, showcasing his award-winning music in a unique format.

- “Red Bull: Big-Wave Surfing”: This summer, filming is underway for a piece that will capture elite surfers tackling the massive waves off the remote coast of Teahupo’o, Tahiti. The immersive video will be available later this year, allowing viewers to feel the ocean’s power like never before.

Partnership and Future Content

Apple’s press release also reiterated its new partnership with Blackmagic Design, initially announced at WWDC. This collaboration aims to “empower professional filmmakers to bring their creative visions to life with a new production workflow for Apple Immersive Video.”

Apple promises an ongoing stream of new series, films, concerts, and sports events captured in Apple Immersive Video throughout the year, beyond the exciting lineup announced today.
