On August 10th, it was confirmed that 96% of the unionized workers at the Towson store voted in favor of ratifying the contract, solidifying the deal and ensuring that all promised benefits will be implemented. IAM International President Brian Bryant hailed the agreement as a pivotal moment, emphasizing the strength of collective bargaining and its impact on one of the world’s largest companies. 'The historic agreement secured by the courageous IAM CORE members at the Towson Apple store sets a new standard for Apple retail workers nationwide,' Bryant stated.

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers’ Coalition of Organized Retail Employees (IAM CORE), which represents the 85 employees at the Towson location, has been at the forefront of these efforts. The union has consistently advocated for improved working conditions, higher pay, and greater job security, and this contract marks a major step forward in those areas.

Some of the key benefits secured in the contract include:

- Scheduling Protections: Enhanced protections for both full-time and part-time employees, ensuring fair and consistent scheduling.
- Pay Raises: Average pay increases of 10% over the duration of the three-year contract, with higher starting salaries for most job positions.
- Job Security: Limits on the use of contracted employees and the introduction of a severance clause to provide better job security.
- Disciplinary Process: A more transparent and equitable disciplinary process, with added protections and accountability for employees.

'By reaching a tentative agreement with Apple, we are giving our members a voice in their futures and a strong first step toward further gains,' the committee noted.

This successful contract negotiation is expected to have far-reaching implications, potentially influencing other Apple retail locations across the country to pursue similar agreements. The contract, which will last for three years, marks a significant achievement in the ongoing efforts to improve conditions for Apple Store workers nationwide.
