The PlayStation 1 emulator for iPhone and iPad, Gamma, has seen significant improvements since its debut on the App Store in May, following a policy change that allows game emulators. The latest updates have introduced several new features and enhancements.
The most notable addition is the Enhanced Audio setting, which uses reverb and interpolation effects to improve sound quality in games. Gamma now also supports the PlayStation Multitap adapter, allowing up to four players in certain games, expanding the multiplayer capabilities beyond the traditional two-player limit.
Gamma has also added support for disc swapping, enabling players to switch between discs without returning to the main menu, which is particularly useful for multi-disc games. The emulator now supports cheats, providing players with the flexibility to modify or skip through games. Additionally, new controller skins and beautiful cover art for the game library have been introduced, enhancing the aesthetic appeal and customization options for users.
Bug fixes have addressed issues with certain game titles, ensuring broader compatibility. As always, Gamma does not include any games, so users will need to source their own ROMs.
Gamma is available for free on the App Store for iPhone and iPad models running iOS 15 or later. While the free version includes ads, users can remove them by purchasing Gamma Pro for a one-time fee of $4.99.
These updates make Gamma a more versatile and enjoyable emulator, providing users with enhanced audio, expanded multiplayer options, and greater flexibility in gameplay. For more information, visit the App Store and check out Gamma.
